48476721_M (2)Ok, it’s officially that time of the year. We’re all seeing a radical increase of students and teachers who are complaining of fevers, coughs, sore throats, runny and stuffy noses, body aches, chills and even diarrhea and vomiting. Cold and flu season is fully underway… and looking to stay around a while.

Here’s the infuriating part. Even though it takes a mere 20 seconds of hand washing to help prevent the nearly 200 different types of cold and flu, studies show that only two-thirds of people actually wash their hands after activities that get them dirty, which includes using the bathroom. (Eww!)

With so many opportunities to run into one these individuals, the chances of coming down with something is almost unavoidable. This is why it’s more important than ever that businesses do their part in preventing these cases. According to the CDC, institutions can protect millions of people from potentially catching the cold, flu and other respiratory infections by simply doing a little cleaning.

The CDC says the best tool in the fight for preventing this spread is the proper cleaning and disinfecting of surfaces and other objects that may be contaminated with germs. And they cite the frequency with which cleaning occurs as one the most important procedures to follow when it comes to prevention.

Now is the time for organizations to consider their cleaning procedures. Are you 100% sure your facilities are clean? If not, you might be unintentionally putting your employees and their families at risk.

Remember, a professional cleaning service can be the best way to prevent the cold and flu season from getting out of hand… They’ll make sure to show germs who’s boss!
